What Parents Are Saying

FAQs

Blue plastic question mark on pink background.
  • Functional medicine is a holistic, patient centered approach to healthcare that focuses on addressing the root causes of illness. It emphasizes a systems-based view of the body, considering the interactions between various organs and systems. Functional medicine practitioners seek to understand the underlying factors that contribute to health conditions, such as genetics, lifestyle, diet, and environmental exposures.

  • Yes. Sometimes (particularly in acute situations like certain infections) conventional medicine is necessary. I take a “conventional when necessary and alternative/complimentary when possible” approach to treating patients.

  • I do not accept insurance. I have chosen to practice outside of the insurance model so that I can offer my patients longer appointment times, integrative and functional treatment options, and healthcare freedom. Patients may still submit a bill to their insurance company for reimbursement. I take cash, check, credit card and HSA. I offer limited fee for service visits, membership, and package options.

  • I am able to write prescriptions, order diagnostic testing, and send referrals in addition to the holistic options I offer. I provide primary care as well as specialized functional care for chronic conditions.

About Me

  1. My love of holistic nursing care and integrative medicine came from my mom who raised us on nutritious food and remedies such as garlic, probiotics, and vitamins. My own health journey and my children’s health journeys launched me deeper into the search for root causes and a bigger tool box to find solutions.

  2. I became a BSN, RN, in 2005 and initially worked in pediatric oncology. I became a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 2011. I have sought ways to integrate holistic and alternative approaches throughout my career.

  3. I completed the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs Fellowship with advanced training in complex pediatric chronic health conditions. This training included environmental medicine, neurology, metabolism, gastroenterology, nutrition, immunology, and advanced clinical practice.

  4. I regularly seek out expert mentors, attend conferences, participate in webinars, and read literature to stay up to date with cutting edge research.

  5. Outside of work I love being home with my husband Kirk and my three children.  As a family we love to be outdoors, read great books, add to our menagerie of pets, and create things. Our dream is to live on a hobby farm and homestead some day! Most of all we love to follow Jesus.
